nmm — dom's brain

A newly established visual language for the National Museum of Mathematics draws from mathematical notation and structure. Inspired by the equations, graphs, and the geometry of angles, the identity transforms these elements into a cohesive design system. Typefaces echo those found in formulas and proofs, lending an academic authenticity while remaining visually engaging. Throughout the identity, color is thoughtfully introduced to soften the topic, offering a more approachable and welcoming experience that invites curiosity.

events calendar

I designed the calendar to transition from expression into order, where a structured timeline gives way to a layered visual composition that organizes the day and month in an orderly way.

brochures

I designed two physical booklets that visitors can grab when they enter the museum. Each booklet showcases important information for the guests, such as highlighted speakers and floor plan. Elements such as the rulers, graphs, and playful typography are used to further showcase the identity.

stationery + print collateral

The letterhead that folds into an envelope through origami adds a tactile feeling into the identity. In addition to the system’s grid and angles flourishing through the business cards, and tickets.

digital presence (web)

I translated the visual language into a website that balance NMM’s curiosity, and reveals the wonders of mathematics. Due to the website holding an abundance of information about the museum, the color system was used sparingly throughout the website to improve user experience, and navigation.

spatial design

I translated the system into a physical environment. By observing the typical museum visitor, I discovered a way for it to evolve. Balancing a sense of playfulness with a refined, thoughtful presence. My identity’s color palette and elements flourish through the space.
